Dr. Valerio Beni received his Degree in Chemistry from the “Universita’ degli Studi di Firenze”, Italy in 1999. Following a short experience as environmental consultant he moved to Ireland where he obtained his Ph.D. in 2005 from the “University College Cork” working on the application of micro-fabricated electrode arrays and interface electrochemistry (ITIES) for chemosensing.

In 2007, following three years as postdoctoral research fellow at the Tyndall National Institute, Cork, Ireland, he moved to the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, Tarragona, Spain to work, as part of his Marie Curie Intra-European (EIF) and Marie Curie European Reintegration Grants (ERG) fellowships, on the development of electrochemical and optical DNA-based biosensors. At the end of 2011 he moved to the Biosensors and Bioelectronics Centre of the Linköping University as an Assistant professor in electrochemical biosensor.

Since September 2015 he is working at the ACREO Swedish ICT AB where he is involved in the development of hybrid printed platforms for low cost and de-centralised optical and electrochemical sensing.

His work has resulted in over 40 peer-reviewed publications and 3 conference proceeding (http://orcid.org/0000-0001-6889-0351) and in several presentations at national and international conferences.
